Help the poor – bring bread to the world.

Development aid

Brot für die Welt (Bread for the World) is a non-governmental organisation founded in Germany in 1959 as a project of the Protestant Church, to help the poorest people in the world. It soon grew beyond Germany, and so did the scope of its work.

From simple help for the poorest it moved on to education, financial help, violence prevention, health and HIV/AIDS relief. Today it supports more than 1,000 projects of local partner organisations.

The best way to help a person is to give them an education.

Its education projects help people find work and become self-reliant. It helps poor communities tackle violence, focuses on health care in developing countries, and in Africa has long supported HIV prevention and education.

Through its partners in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe, many of them churches, it quickly learns who needs help most and can react fast.
